"Well, that looked close..."

I enjoy playing golf.  It's a great way to spend time with friends or business associates for a few hours, being outside, and experiencing something new each time I play.  As I've shared, I'm an average golfer needing to warm-up on the range and take lessons to get to my desired state.

Most of my friends are in the same category.  While we enjoy the likes of "Entertainment" ranges, we need to be challenged enough on the real range to improve our game.

The feedback we get on The Golf Target is exactly what is needed.  The ability to focus and aim at a target bigger than a 3/4" flag-stick is huge, literally.

Granted, my skills need to improve to hit the target consistently but there is a difference getting immediate feedback versus asking myself "Well, that looked close..."

Fun time raising money - PGA Reach

The Carolinas PGA section created a Skills Challenge area to raise money for the Carolinas PGA Reach.  2020 was the inaugural year as PGA members and guests donated $5 testing their skills in putting, tossing, and the indoor simulator.  The winner with the most points won the prize each day.

Target w/Holes challenged members using
their hand-eye coordination
The Golf Target challenged members hand-eye coordination skills by tossing three(3) balls  through the holes to get the most points.   This is what we recommend for junior programs allowing The Golf Target to be used in multiple ways.  We had four contestants get the maximum 30 points.

We look forward to being part of the area and growing it further next year.

Brand Awareness...what comes to mind?

Brand Awareness
When someone says, Brand Awareness, what comes to mind?  Do you think about national cola companies whose ads you see on TV?  What about all the cars on the road and how much advertising dollars they spend?

The definition of Brand Awareness according to Cambridge.org states "the degree to which people are familiar with or prefer a particular brand."  Think about that for moment.  Why do you shop at one grocery store versus another?  Why are you comfortable going to back to the same restaurant versus trying a new one?  When someone asks, do you recommend that restaurant and explain why?

We'd all agree brand recognition is important while brand preference is the ultimate goal.  This is why you shop at the same grocery store, visit the same restaurants, or start looking at a new car from the same manufacturer.

Golf and Brand Awareness
Brand awareness is key to future growth.  We compete everyday for the time and dollars a golfer wants to spend.  If the golfer has a fun experience at your facility, they will remember.  However, linking your name to that experience is Brand Awareness.  Your brand, your logo, your business, and their experience is what needs to come to mind when they are ready to do it again.

Welcome.  Our goal for this area is to provide insight from our experiences within marketing, building brands, creating solutions, and the golf industry.

The comments, insights, and ideas provided are intended to be thought provoking.   While we have years of experience in these concepts, not all the posts will fit for your needs.  If it doesn't, perhaps it will give you ideas to modify and make it your own.   We'd like to help take you to the next level.

Sponsorships and The Golf Target

If your club supports sponsorship and outings, here is a quick tip how The Golf Target assists.

Sponsors pay for outings and events creating brand awareness.  The sponsor hopes to receive a reasonable amount of value in brand awareness from the amount of money they are paying.

Range & Customized Panel

We've shared the average range has 3 or 4 Golf Targets.  The customized panel allows you to sell sponsorships or place their logo on the targets.  Each panel is $125 plus shipping.  In speaking with different clubs, selling a sponsorship package at $250 - $500 per target will easily pay for the cost of the panel at the same time making money for the club or charity.

Start the day promoting the sponsors on the range.

Range then to the Par 3's

When you are ready to send everyone to the starting holes, move the targets to the Par 3's.  Create a contest for the players allowing them to focus on the sponsor.

Par 3's to the Range or Mixer

When everyone has completed the round, move the Targets back to the range or near the event for the mixer.  Your sponsors will truly appreciate the effort.

Contest Ideas

Chip and Win
Have players on the Par 3 chip to the target.   Place the target 15-20 yards away.   If they hit it, they win a prize (if prizes are given) or they are registered for a drawing later on.

Ball Toss
If a Par 3 doesn't allow for chipping, set the Target about 8 to 10 feet away.  Change the graphics panel to one with the holes (still add sponsors) and have players toss a ball through.  Depending on the game, could be one shot/one ball, or three balls.  Give away the prize immediately or enter for a drawing.

Bottom line, The Golf Target is versatile, be creative and have fun.

Share with us your ideas.

Social Distancing Panels

We've heard from courses all around the country how busy they are.  That of course is if your state has allowed golf to remain open.  ...
